Create a Tier List

To create a tier list, follow 4 steps: add items, set up the tiers, drag each item into a tier and download the finished ranking. The free tier list maker on this page saves your work in your browser as you go, so a closed tab keeps the list on the same device.

  1. Add itemsType item names into the box under the board, separated by commas, or upload images.
  2. Set up the tiersKeep the default S, A, B, C and D rows, or rename, recolor, add and remove rows.
  3. Drag items into tiersDrag each item into a row and reorder items inside the row, with the strongest item on the left.
  4. Download the tier listSelect Download PNG to save a 2,400-pixel-wide (px) image of the finished tier list.

Add Images to Your Tier List

To add images to your tier list, use 1 of 3 methods: select Upload images, drag image files onto the board or paste an image from the clipboard. Each image becomes a square tile in the unranked tray, and the file name becomes the item label.

The tier list maker accepts 4 common image formats: Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG or JPG), Portable Network Graphics (PNG), WebP and Graphics Interchange Format (GIF). Each upload takes up to 60 images at a time.

Each image is resized in your browser to 240 pixels (px) on its longest side. Tiles show at 78 × 78 px on desktop and 60 × 60 px on phones, about 0.8 × 0.8 inches (2 × 2 cm) and 0.6 × 0.6 inches (1.6 × 1.6 cm) on a standard screen. Use square images (1:1 ratio) of at least 240 × 240 px for the sharpest tiles. Wide and tall images are center-cropped to a square, so keep the subject in the middle of the picture.

To remove an image, hover over the tile and select ×. On a touchscreen, tap the tile, then tap ×. Images stay on your device: the tool processes and stores every image inside your browser, with no upload to a server.

Drag and Drop Items to Rank Them

To rank items, drag each item from the unranked tray into a tier row. The drag and drop editor supports 3 input methods: mouse, touch and keyboard.

  1. MouseClick an item, hold the button and move the item onto a row. Drop the item between 2 tiles to place it there.
  2. TouchPress an item for 0.16 seconds, then slide it onto a row. Tap an item and then tap a row to move it without dragging.
  3. KeyboardFocus an item with Tab. Press ↑ or ↓ to move it between rows, ← or → to reorder it and Delete to remove it.

Drag an item back to the unranked tray to take it out of the ranking. Select Reset to move every ranked item back to the tray at once.

Select a tier label, then rename or recolor it.

Rename Your Tiers

To rename a tier, click or tap the tier label and type a new name. Tier names hold up to 40 characters, including letters, numbers, words and emoji. Common custom names include “Must try”, “Overrated” and “Haven’t played”.

Change Tier Colors

To change a tier color, select the gear icon next to the row and pick 1 of 12 preset colors or any custom color. The label text switches between dark and light to stay readable on the new color.

Add or Remove Tiers

To add a tier, select Add tier: a new row appears at the bottom with the next free letter. To remove a tier, open the gear menu and select Delete tier: items in the deleted row move back to the unranked tray. A tier list holds between 1 and 20 tiers.
